چکیده

Every year, during the pre-monsoon season, tropical storms form in Bay of Bengal (BoB) and hit eastern coast India, affecting lives people living coastal region. On 3 May 2019, deadly cyclone Fani impacted areas Odisha (eastern province) causing large scale damage impact was observed up to Eastern Himalayan Detailed analyses satellite, ground, Argo data have provided information about changes on land due floods caused by heavy precipitation, weather conditions, atmospheric, ocean parameters. Pronounced atmospheric parameters were at time formation its movements towards land, especially along track. Changes such as chlorophyll concentration, dissolved oxygen, salinity, sea surface sub-surface temperature are found be associated with Fani. Our analysis shows a strong coupling between land-ocean-atmosphere • concentrations air quality moved after landfall. vertical profile salinity cyclone.

The Effect of the Ocean Eddy on Tropical Cyclone Intensity

It has been widely recognized that the ocean supplies surface heat fluxes and therefore energy to tropical cyclones (TCs). The TC can induce the sea surface temperature (SST) cooling (Price 1981) associated with both the entrainment/mixing and upwelling processes. In turn, the SST cooling near the storm core exerts influence on the TC intensity. This negative feedback to the TC intensity is cle...

Stable Boundary Layer and Its Impact on Tropical Cyclone Structure in a Coupled Atmosphere–Ocean Model

The atmospheric boundary layer (BL) in tropical cyclones (TCs) connects deep convection within rainbands and the eyewall to the air–sea interface. Although the importance of the BL in TCs has been widely recognized in recent studies, how physical processes affect TC structure and intensity are still not well understood. This study focuses on a particular physical mechanism through which a TC-in...

Tropical Cyclone Atmospheric Forcing for Ocean Response Models: Approaches and Issues

The specification of tropical cyclone atmospheric forcing for ocean response models is described with emphasis on methods that are currently actively applied in basins rich in insitu, airborne and remotely sensed meteorological data. We emphasize approaches and critical issues addressed in more detail in this workshop’s special session on Tropical Meteorology. Five alternative wind fields devel...

Ocean barrier layers' effect on tropical cyclone intensification.

Improving a tropical cyclone's forecast and mitigating its destructive potential requires knowledge of various environmental factors that influence the cyclone's path and intensity. Herein, using a combination of observations and model simulations, we systematically demonstrate that tropical cyclone intensification is significantly affected by salinity-induced barrier layers, which are "quasi-p...
